This project will address Folwell Hall's exterior building systems. The flat roof at the top of the building will be replaced and the gutter will be relined where the sloped clay roof meets the parapet wall to stop water leaks. Structural work will be performed in the attic to support future mechanical equipment, and chimneys that will be separated from their shafts will be resolved prior to flat roof replacement. Access through the roof is needed for the structural work in the attic and will therefore need to be completed before the roof is replaced.
Bricks, terra cotta, and stone will be replaced or repaired as needed, all mortar joints will be tuck pointed, the chimneys will be rebuilt and tuck pointed, and all exterior masonry elements will be cleaned. The foundation walls will be waterproofed and exterior guardrails will be replaced. The landscaping at the perimeter of the building will be restored.
