The ST+SS building will provide for and showcase the latest pedagogical methods of science teaching and streamline student access to the full range of student services in one prominent location. The project aspires to achieve LEED Gold Certification.
Located on the current site of the existing Science Classroom Building, the ST+SS building overlooks the Mississippi River gorge. At the head of the Washington Avenue Bridge it will stand opposite The Frederick R. Weisman Art Museum forming a gateway to the University’s east bank campus.
The primary objectives of the Science Teaching and Student Services Center (ST+SS) are twofold:
1. Provide an innovative, flexible science teaching and learning environment, which will support technology-rich and hands-on, interactive instruction.
2. Provide a consolidated student services center for front-line academic and transactional services that cannot be effectively handled on-line, such as academic counseling and career counseling.
