The University of Minnesota-Morris Football Facility created a greatly improved facility for joint-use by the University of Minnesota-Morris and Morris Independent School District 769. The agreement for a joint-use facility was accomplished through joint funding of the project and a joint operation and maintenance agreement.
The previous field was below average and the turf quality was difficult to maintain after heavy use and as the football season progresses. In addition to this, the drainage system was poor, the spectator seating was outdated, toilet facilities were old, and scaffold supported press, coaches’, and scorers’ booths making the facility non-compliant with ADA regulations. The existing facilities are not ADA compliant for spectators and users of press box.
The new facility is located between University of Minnesota-Morris and Morris High School. The facility consists of a new field with lighted and artificial turf surface, new seating to support 1,200 people, a new concession stand, ticket booth, restrooms, press box and storage facility. In addition, there is new team meeting spaces next to the Physical Education Center. |
