Pillsbury Hall
Pillsbury Hall Rehabilitation

Twin Cities Campus | East Bank

Pillsbury Hall is a contributing member to the University of Minnesota Old Campus Historic District, a district listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. The project seeks to balance the needs of modern teaching and learning with a respect for the building’s history and character-defining elements. It will also look to strengthen Pillsbury Hall’s connection to the broader district and campus evolution by introducing a formal accessible entry plaza that brings all students and visitors into the heart of the building. The building project will renovate and reposition the full 60,100 gross square feet (gsf) building, while capturing an additional 2,500 gsf below grade for utility functions. Spaces include departmental and faculty offices and workspaces, literary journal and digital media lab, student study/collaboration spaces and graduate/TA workroom, humanities engagement hub, classrooms, and seminar rooms. As part of the project, modern mechanical systems will be integrated into the original structure to comply with current standards and codes.
